With large amounts of data, it might be possible to split the data between additional domains to reduce the amount of data searched. A Move Data By Class tool is available to move data between domains, as well as to create new domains and domain groups to support this. File a service request with customer support to request this tool.

You should not undertake this approach without careful analysis and consideration.

  • This solution is ideal for separating isolated data that has few, if any, relationships to other objects in the database. The Authoring domain is an example of this approach, as it enables authoring data to be ignored when working in the data warehouse (and vice versa).

  • If a set of domain group tables grows very large, it might be possible to split the data across multiple domain groups. One possibility is to separate reference data.

If used incorrectly, this tool could corrupt your data. Refer to the Developer’s Toolkit Move Data By Class Tool User's Guide for more information and guidance for using the Move Data By Class tool.
