Indexing criteria

In the Indexing Criteria section, you can specify various criteria for selective indexing.

The left pane has three tabs that allow you to specify the various criteria for indexing the objects.

  • Objects are picked up for indexing only if they satisfy at least one selected criterion in each of the three tabs.

  • If nothing is selected in a particular tab, then that criterion is not considered when FTR picks objects to be indexed.

  • At least one selection must be made in one of the three tabs for a selective indexing task to be created.

  • When another tab is selected, the selections in the previous tabs are retained.

Class definitions tab

The Class definitions tab displays a list of the FTR configured class definitions, such as class definitions that realize the interface definition ISPFFTRItem. Class definitions that are configured for regular indexing using FTR configuration are selected by default.

Files types tab

The File types tab displays a list of file types that have active filters set on them.

File type selection is valid only if the selected class definition realizes the ISPFFile interface.

Scopes tab

In the Scopes tab, plant and project scopes shown in Query Scope dialog are displayed in a tree view.

Date and object type criteria

After you have specified the indexing criteria, you can enter a value in the Last updated date box to index objects that were updated in a specific time range. Also, you can choose which types of objects to index in the Type of object to be indexed in above query set section. For more information, see Type of objects to be indexed.

  • Click Reset to set the default selection in all the sections and tabs in the form.

  • Click Apply or Finish. A bulk indexing scheduler task is created with your selected criteria set on it. The task is picked up by FTR scheduler for processing.

SHARED Tip Clicking Apply creates the task, but the form remains open, enabling you to create another task. Clicking Finish creates the task and closes the form.

The indexing criteria selected in the three tabs are displayed in bold as a tree view in the right pane.

The tree view is read-only. You can only expand or collapse the nodes in the tree view.
