The Reserved Documents feature enables you to reserve document numbers for single or multiple documents such as engineering, vendor, procurement, and project control documents. When you create a reserve document, you create a document master. The document revision and version are created when the reserved document is activated.
The following steps show how to create a reserved engineering document:

Click File > New > Documents > Reserved Documents > Reserved Engineering Documents.

In the New Reserved Engineering Document dialog box, expand the document class to select a document type.

Click Next.

Enter the information in the required boxes.

Click Finish to reserve the engineering document.
You can also reserve an engineering document from the Tree View window. Right-click the document type in the Tree view, and click Reserved Documents > Reserved Engineering Documents.

When you create a reserved engineering document, the status of the document master is set to RESERVED_INACTIVE.

You can create other reserved documents such as reserved project control documents, reserved vendor documents, and so on, in the same way.
