Documents are attached to transmittals conditionally.

  • In the delivered SmartPlant Foundation model, for a document to be attached to a transmittal:

    • The document must be signed off and

    • The transmittal and document must belong to the same configuration.

Additionally, for internal transmittals:

  • The document must be related to the transmittal through the intermediate section object, and

  • The section must belong to the same configuration as the transmittal and the document.

  • Conditions can be configured to control the documents that can be attached based on information about the transmittal or the section. For example, each section could be set up to accept only a certain document type.

  • An administrator or document controller can set up additional controls, such as project, contract, or document type, or they can modify the restrictions in place by default. For example, internal transmittals could be configured to allow documents to be attached to the transmittal, rather than a section, or you might allow working documents to be attached to transmittals.
