You can choose how you want to display login names and user names in the Desktop Client for three different parts of the user interface:

  • Tree views

  • List views

  • Tables, matrices, and other parts of the user interface

Tree views

Any tree view that contains a SPFLoginUser displays both the login name and the name defined for the user.

The column set to display SPFLoginUsers in tree views is configurable. More attributes can be added by updating the SPFLoginNameTreeDisplay column set.

List views

The column set to display SPFLoginUsers in list views is configurable. More attributes can be added by updating the SPFLoginUserColumnSet column set.

Tables and other parts of the user interface

Outside of tree views and list views, you can choose to view user login names and user names in three ways in the Desktop Client:

  • Name, for example, "Authoring Administrator"

  • Login Name, for example, "authoringadmin"

  • Both, for example, "Authoring Administrator (authoringadmin)"

You can set the way you want login names to appear in the SPF System Options dialog box. To change the login display, click Find > Administration > SmartPlant Foundation Options. Right-click SystemOptions, and then click Update. Under Login user display options details, modify the Login user display option.

After the system administrator sets this option, users must log out of the Desktop Client and log back in to see the changes.

For example, the following graphic shows the Configuration Role Assignment Form dialog box when the Login user display option is set to Both. Notice that the column header shows both the SPFLoginName and Name.
