  1. Click Data Capture Administration>Data Reader Patterns.

  2. In the Data Reader Patterns module, click Data Reader Patterns.

  3. In the Data Reader Patterns page, click Create Data Reader Pattern .

  4. In the Create Data Reader Pattern window, enter the following information:

    1. Name - Type a name for the data reader pattern. For example, you can name it as PumpData.

    2. Description - Type a description for the data reader pattern. For example, you can type the description as Extract the Pump Details from the Spreadsheet.

    3. Class Name - Type the class definition name. This class definition name is assigned to the product database objects. For example, the class definition name can be XlsPump.

    4. Import Definition - Type the import definition name. This import definition is used to map the csv file into the application to create a task with the data reader pattern and the Job Definition.

      For example, in this exercise you can leave this field blank to store the data in the database instead of exporting the data using the Data Validator to the external system.

    5. Data Connection - Select Xls_PumpList as a data connection from the Data Connection list,

    6. File Path - Click and select the Excel file PUMPS_500OrigC.xls file from the sample data located on Smart Community. For more information, see Find sample data on Smart Community.

    7. Click Next to define a data reader pattern.
