Data sheets and data lists are Excel documents containing SmartPlant Foundation data. These documents typically describe one or more SmartPlant Foundation objects. The documents are based on pre-defined Microsoft Excel templates and are populated using the contents of one or more view definitions.
Data sheets and data lists allow users to view, edit, and print the data for objects in an easy-to-use and customizable format.
Data sheets can also be packaged for editing by users who do not have access to SmartPlant Foundation. These data sheets are edited directly in Microsoft Excel. Changes are then saved back into the system and can then be published into SmartPlant Foundation and made available for retrieval by other tools.
Data sheet templates are defined in the Desktop Client and then the object data is edited in the template using the Generate Data Sheet command in the Desktop Client. This command populates the data in a copy of the Excel data sheet and displays it on the client computer.
