Separating the data warehouse from authoring provides the following advantages:
-
The authoring schema can be set up independently of the data warehouse schema and therefore will not need to change often.
-
SmartPlant Foundation acting as a tool behaves in the same manner as any other authoring tool participating in integration.
-
Possible improvements in performance as the tool schema can be much smaller than the data warehouse schema.
-
Setting up the security may be more flexible.
-
All CDW class definitions use a dedicated CDW component schema and a CDW domain with its own CDW domain group and database tables.
