In the SmartPlant Foundation Desktop Client tree window, click Document Category > Template Documents.

Expand the Template Documents to show DataSheet Template.

Right-click Datasheet Template and select New Template Document to display the dialog box.

In the Name box, type a name, for example, IPD_CustomControlValve Template.

In the Description box, type a description, for example, Custom IPD Control Valve Datasheet Template.

In the Item owning group box, select an owning group from the list, for example, ADMIN.

Click Next to display the Attach Files section dialog.

Click Add File to locate and attach the Excel worksheet created previously. For example, IPD_CustomControlValveDataSheet.xls. For more information, see Create an Excel worksheet.

Click Finish. The new template document appears in the New Items pane. For example, IPD_CustomControlValve Template.
