Using tag registers, you can compile information originating from various disciplines and data sources, at various points during a project. A tag register is a Microsoft Excel file or ASCII file that contains information about tag numbers and tag details from CDW domain, linking together data published by all the authoring tools. The properties of the tag selected on the report definition are included in the register, based on settings defined in the register definition.

If any changes are made to the tag data in the authoring domain, you must create a new snapshot of the document and publish it before you can generate a tag register with updated data.

Tag registers are generated using register documents. When you generate a tag register on a register document, a new version of the document is created, and the tag register is attached to that new version.

You can continuously monitor data required for handover by scheduling the regeneration of tag registers. Using scheduled tasks, you can have the software automatically generate tag registers at a later time, on a recurring schedule, as necessary. You can then review these registers and use color coding to easily find the added, deleted, or modified tags.

Generate Register dialog box

Allows you to generate tag registers using the register documents.

Register document name - Displays the name of the register document for which you will generate the tag register.

Run now - Provides the option to generate the tag register immediately.

Schedule - Provides the option to schedule the generation of tag registers at a later point of time. It allows you to specify the time and date when you want the task to start. The tasks can be scheduled to be run once or repeated on a defined schedule.

  • One time - This option allows you to run the task one time at a date and time that you specify.

  • Daily - This option allows you to regenerate the tag register every day until the end date that you choose.

  • Weekly - This option allows you to regenerate the tag register each week on the day or days that you specify.

Recur every - Allows you to select the interval of recurrence for the tag register generation.

Set Expiration date-time - Allows you to specify the time and date when you want the scheduled task to stop running.

Select comparison version - Allows you to select a previous version of the tag register with which to compare the new version you are creating.

This option is available only if the Show change status column option is selected for the register definition you are using. For more information, see Create a register definition.
