In the Desktop Client, click File > Excel Import.

The commands available on the File > Excel Import submenu depend on your role assignment and user permissions within a project.

The templates available for you to use during the import depends on your role assignment and user permissions within a project. The templates must be configured by the system administrator to map the SPFLocalDirectory, SPFLocalFileName, and SPFLocalHostName properties to import files.

Click next to the Excel file box, then click the Excel file to import.

Click next to the Template box, then click the template to use for import.

Provide additional information for the new document. Asterisks (*) indicate required information.

Select the Import Document option to include the Excel file in the import.

Select the Add objects to New Items window option to place objects in the New Items window in the Desktop Client.

Click Next.
When import is complete, a summary report window appears detailing the name of the import and the number of objects created.

Click Finish.
In the New Items window, the import creates the document and the objects.
Data imported is stored in the appropriate domain database. Data is stored in the data warehouse when it is published.
