If you have already created pipeline tags in your SmartPlant Master Tag Registry database, and would like to import additional information from the vendor, use the procedure below to export the tags into an editable data sheet.

  1. Click Find > Line List > Line List Records, and provide pipeline in the search criteria to find the pipe line tags that you want to put in the data sheet for editing.

  2. From the list of results, select the line list records for which you want to generate a data sheet.

  3. Right-click the selected line list records, and click Generate MTR Datasheet.

  4. In the Generate MTR Datasheet dialog box, select the MTRAuthPipelineDLD data list definition, and click OK.

  5. Select a location where you want to save the data sheet so that you can open and edit it.

  6. In the File name box, type a name for the data sheet, and then click Save.

    • By default, the data sheet name is saved as <Template file name> in .xlsm format.

    • The data sheet can be accessed, reviewed, and edited by other users without using SmartPlant Foundation. The file can be moved as necessary.

  7. Browse to the new data sheet, and open it using Microsoft Excel.

  8. Enter information about the tag in the data sheet, as necessary.

    • For properties that are defined by an enumerated list, the complete list of available values is included in the data sheet in a list box.

    • The line list record name and pipeline are created based on the predefined ENS definition. So, in the data sheet, the Line List Record Name and Line Number columns contains the value “TBA: To be allocated using ENS.” Do not modify the value in this column.

    • You must provide values for the properties in a data sheet such as, Fluid System, Fluid Code, Line Sequence Number, Nominal Diameter, Piping Material Class, and Insulation Purpose.

    • Click Properties PropertiesCommand to expand the task pane and display the properties for the active cell.

  9. Click File > Save to save changes in the data sheet.

The data sheet changes must be saved in the .xlsm version.

  • This Microsoft Excel file can be sent to the vendor, who can provide technical details for the tags.

  • When you modify or delete the value of name property of an object that was related to the tag, the existing value for that property is displayed to you as a comment in the data sheet.
