Problem

Oracle error 3114 (not connected to Oracle) occurs while attempting to connect to a SmartPlant Foundation site. This error can occur in isolation or in succession during several seemingly unrelated operations, such as while logging in to the Desktop Client or during a scheduled operation.

Solution

This indicates a potential performance issue with the Oracle database. Performance analysis should be undertaken by a qualified Oracle engineer. If it was due to an Oracle server restart, you must recycle the application pools for all sites that connect to the database.
