An essential activity during all phases of the plant life cycle is the consistent and accurate allocation of tag numbers in accordance with the plant Engineering Numbering System (ENS), and capture and maintenance of design properties in tag indexes. Managing tag number allocations during major development projects can be especially onerous and errors can be very costly to rectify, if practicable at all.
The TAG work process in SPO/E Core provides the centralized allocation of tag numbers in SmartPlant Foundation, in accordance with a pre-defined ENS, maintenance of tag data, and the publishing of tag details (as supported by existing SmartPlant adapters) to SmartPlant Enterprise design tools.
The TAG business package uses CTA, which serves as the central place for creating and managing tags.
CTA works in conjunction with the Work Breakdown Structure business package, especially with work package objects. A work package is considered as a container for publishing tags, which in turn hold a bunch of tags.
In an integrated environment, when SPO/E Core is integrated with Smart P&ID, Smart Electrical, and Smart Instrumentation, CTA handles publishing and republishing of tags from different tools.
SPO/E Core provides the CTA feature for many tag types and tag properties by default. If required, you can easily implement CTA for new tag types or tag properties.
