Use these options to specify how the software merges the data in the Update mode. You need to use the Update mode when merging instrument specs, calibration settings, instrument custom field values, or process data. This is because, when merging a tag number, for this tag, the software automatically creates zero rows in the SPEC_SHEET_DATA, CALIBRATION_SETTING, and UDF_COMPONENT table, and all process data tables. To enter values into these zero rows, you must use the Update mode.

This tab is available only after you select Update existing data on the General tab.

Include renamed items

Select this option to verify whether items were renamed in the target or source after backing up. If the item was renamed, the data in the target is updated from the source. Clear the check box to ignore renamed data - in this case, the software inserts the source item in the target database and the data in the renamed target item is not affected.

This option can only recognize renamed items if at the time of backup your System Administrator selected the Save last created ID for merging renamed items check box in the Source Data Connection dialog.

When merging the item, if the value of the item ID is less than or the same as the last created ID, the software updates the data in the renamed item. If you know or suspect that the last created ID value was not saved during the backup, it is recommended that you do not use this option.

Clear this option if, at the time of backup you suspect that the software did not save the maximum ID value.

Empty fields only

Select this option to update only those target fields that contain a NULL value, a zero, or a space. Clear the option to update all target fields, including null fields and fields containing a zero or a space.

Include specification forms and data dictionary

Select this option to include specification forms and the data dictionary when merging specification sheets. We recommend that you clear this option if the data in the target is newer than the data in the source.

Include empty basic engineering data from source

Select this option to include merging of empty data values for process data and calculations in the source. We recommend that you clear this option if the data in the target is newer than the data in the source.

Include wiring default data

Select this option to include default cables, cable, sets, wires, panels, strips, and terminals when merging wiring data. We recommend that you clear this option if the data in the target is newer than the data in the source.

Include spare connections from source

Select this option to include merging of spare wiring connections, that is, wires that do not carry signals.
