The Query Attributes tab displays the attributes selected from the Attributes Explorer. You can drag the columns to change their positions and consequently how the resulting records are displayed in the Query Preview tab, after selecting Preview.
Attribute caption name
Type in this field an alternative name for the attribute if required. The Attribute caption name replaces the Attribute name in the preview and in the EDE.
Attribute name
Displays the attributes name. The name reflects the engineering name, not the database field name.
Item Name
Displays the Item Type for the selected attribute.
Display Attribute
Clear the check box to not display the attribute in the EDE.
Sort
Select to open the Sort dialog to apply a sort method to the values displayed in the attributes column.
The Sort Dialog box
This allows you to apply a sort method to the values of a specific column.
Directional Sort List
From the select list select the direction order you want to apply to the columns values A to Z, or Z to A. Select None to clear a selection.
Start
Use the spinner to select where you want in the values the sort be applied. For example, the third character from the left, select the number three on the spinner. The sort is then applied to all the values in you column from the third character from the left.
Length
Use the spinner to select the number of characters the sort is applied to. For example, using the Start example as our base, you choose three for your Length, the sort is applied to three characters starting from the third character from the left.
The Start and Length spinners must be used in-conjunction. Selecting just one of these values results in no sort result.
Index
When sorting more than one column, if you want the sort to be applied first to a specific column, for example Name, then in the Sort dialog of that column use the Index spinner to select one.
Sort parameters applied in a query to an attribute's values, that are defined as invisible (Display attribute check box is cleared), are not taken into consideration in the generated EDE. We recommend that if you apply sort parameters to an attribute's values in a query, that the attribute is not defined as invisible. If you do not want to see an attributes values in the EDE report, you can specify which EDE columns to include in the report when printing. For more information, see Print Multi-Header Report from an EDE View.
