On the Control System tab of the I/O Termination Properties dialog, you define the system card control settings, I/O type, and primary and secondary locations of the I/O card in the DCS or PLC cabinet.

Name

Displays the I/O termination name that you set on the General tab.

Panel

Displays the panel that holds the active I/O termination.

I/O type

Allows you to select an appropriate I/O type. Smart Instrumentation uses this field for validation when assigning a tag number.

Define a redundant I/O card

Enables you to define a redundant I/O card for the current I/O termination. Selecting this check box makes the options in the Secondary I/O card group box available.

Primary I/O card

These fields display the properties of the associated primary I/O card. You can associate a primary I/O card with the current I/O termination by clicking next to the I/O card select list arrow.

Cabinet

Displays the name of the panel or cabinet where the primary I/O card is located.

Rack

Displays the name of the rack within the current panel or cabinet.

Slot

Displays the name of the slot within the current rack.

I/O card

Displays the name of the associated primary I/O card. To associate an I/O card with the current I/O termination, select to open the I/O Card Selection of the Domain Explorer. Select an appropriate I/O card and select OK. Note that you cannot select an I/O card whose child item is a terminal strip with channels. Also, the I/O type of both the I/O card and the I/O termination must be the same. If the I/O type of the I/O termination differs from the I/O type of the I/O card, the software displays a warning.

I/O card model

Displays the I/O card model if appropriate.

System cable

Displays the name of the system cable that connects the I/O card with the rack you have selected.

Clear

Clears all the definitions in the Primary I/O card group box and thus dissociates the current I/O termination from the selected I/O card.

Secondary I/O card

These fields display the properties of the associated secondary I/O card. You can associate a secondary I/O card with the current I/O termination by clicking next to the I/O card select list arrow. Note that the options in this group box become available after selecting the Define a redundant I/O card check box.

Cabinet

Displays the name of the panel or cabinet where the secondary I/O card is located.

Rack

Displays the name of the rack within the current panel or cabinet.

Slot

Displays the name of the slot within the current rack.

I/O card

Displays the name of the associated secondary I/O card. To associate an I/O card with the current I/O termination, select to open the Domain Explorer. Select an appropriate I/O card and select OK. Note that you cannot select an I/O card whose child item is a terminal strip with channels.

I/O card model

Displays the I/O card model if appropriate.

System cable

Displays the name of the system cable that connects the I/O card with the rack you have selected.

Clear

Clears all the definitions in the Secondary I/O card group box and thus dissociates the current I/O termination from the selected I/O card.

To be able to effect I/O assignment and make connections, create a terminal strip with channels under the current I/O termination.
