Use this dialog to view items in the comparison list that appear to be separate but are in fact identical. This can occur for example, if you insert extra spaces in an item name. The software identifies and removes redundant characters and highlights duplicate items using a yellow background: the software indicates the first item in a group using bold text.

To access this dialog, in a Merger Comparison List dialog, select Duplicates. Only those items that you selected in the Merger Comparison List dialog appear in this dialog; however, if you did not select any items, the software displays all the items from the Merger Comparison List dialog.

The dialog displays all the items in the comparison list and allows you to select the items to include in the merge process.

Select

Select the check box for each row to be included in the merge process.

Mode

This field indicates the merging mode for the row. The software determines the mode according to the relationship that exists between the source and target data, which can be one of the following:

I: Inserted

The record exists in the source, but not in the target, therefore the software overwrites the target value with the source value.

U: Updated

The same record exists in both the source and target, but with different values, therefore the software overwrites the target value with the source value.

D: Deleted

The record exists in the target, but not in the source, therefore the software deletes the record in the target.

N: No change

The records in the source and target are identical.

Main Name (read only)

Displays the name of the item as it appears in the comparison list.

Identity Name (read only)

Displays the name of the item as it appears after removing redundant characters. The software highlights items with the same identity names as duplicates.

Select all

Select this check box to select all the displayed items. Clear the check box to clear the selection for all the displayed items.

View

To filter the items displayed, select one of the following options:

All items

Displays all the items.

Selected items

Displays only the items selected for merging.

Duplicate items

Displays only the items that the software marks as duplicates.

Characters

Opens the Redundant Characters dialog to specify the redundant characters used to create the identity name for comparison.

Print

Opens the Print Options dialog for your printer where you can specify the pages to be printed, the number of copies, and so forth.

Save As

Opens a Save As dialog where you select the file name and path for saving the data displayed in the Duplicate Items dialog. You can save the data in a number of different formats such as text file, Microsoft Excel worksheet, or PowerSoft report.
