This dialog allows you to import additional data and associate it with the source table that you selected on the Link Definitions dialog. This way you can import data into your database from more than one source table. You do this by associating columns from other tables or database files to the source table or database file. The associated columns automatically become a part of the source data which you have selected. Remember that if your source is a table, you can associate data only from other tables, and, conversely, if your source is database file, you associate data only from a database file. You can also use associations which have been previously saved in a link. To do this, start the import process using a saved link. Also note that you cannot associate a num (number) type column with a char (character) type column or vice versa.

To open this dialog, open the Link Properties dialog, select the Source tab, and under Source tables, select Define.

Source list

This pane contains the aliases of the selected source table or file as well as the ones that you have added for association. After selecting Select, highlight the required field and drag it to a field in the Source for association pane. When done, select Confirm to make the actual associations. Note the following icons used in this dialog:

PPM All Outputs GraphicAssociation with another source field.

PPM All Outputs Graphic Additional data set.

PPM All Outputs Graphic Source data set.

PPM All Outputs Graphic Source data that will also appear in the appropriate subsequent dialog boxes. Select the icon once to stop the data from appearing in the subsequent dialog boxes.

PPM All Outputs Graphic Source data that will not appear in the appropriate subsequent dialog boxes. Select the icon once to make the data appear in the subsequent dialog boxes.

Source for association

This pane contains all the selected tables and fields with which you can associate the fields listed in the Source list pane. Double-click the source or additional source data to display the available fields. Select a field in the Source list pane and drag it to the required field in this pane to select the fields for association. Select Confirm to make the actual associations.

Source

Add

Add an additional source data set to the source list from which you will be able to select specific fields for association. Note you can use the same source table more than once. Each time you add the table, the software identifies each use of the table by a different alias.

Remove

Remove the selected additional source data set in the Source list. You cannot remove a source data set.

Association

Select

Highlight the required additional source data in the Source list pane and then select this button to select it for association. The highlighted source data will then appear in the Source for association pane, which will enable you to make the associations between the required fields. Note that you make the associations by dragging the required fields from the Source list pane and dropping them in the Source for association pane next to the appropriate field.

Confirm

Select to make the actual associations between the selected fields. Note that this will clear the Source for association pane and all the associations will be displayed in the Source list pane.

View source table list

Select this box to display your source database in the Source Data dialog. Note that this option is only available if importing from a database and not from a database file.

Verify

Select to verify the correctness of the associations you have made. This will check, for example, if the associated fields are of the same type: numeric or alphanumeric. Note that you can only associate those fields that belong to the same type.

Save

Select this button after selecting Verify. This will save all the associations you have made, close this dialog, and return to the Link Properties dialog.
