The options on the Style tab allow you to control what fields are displayed in the Import Link window if you are defining a link where data will be inserted into reference tables. When creating a link using the Single table import method, and include reference tables in the link, you can select an existing browser view that determines which fields are displayed in the Import Link window when you open the link. If there is no browser view that satisfies the needs of the current import session, create a browser view in the Browse Manager in Smart Instrumentation.

When creating a link using the Module (multiple tables) method, only the Display all fields check box is available. You can select this check box to display all the fields of the target module tables and not just the fields contained in a special hard-coded list that limits the field list that appears in the Import Link window. This special list serves two purposes:

  • To shorten the field list displayed in the Import Link window.

  • To display engineering field names instead of the names used in the database.

Display all fields

The check box selection functions according to the import method assigned to the link:

  • When a link is assigned to the Single table import method, and includes reference tables, the software disables browser view selection options. When you open the link in the Import Link window, the software displays all the fields that the target reference tables contain.

  • When a link is assigned to the Module (multiple tables) method, and you selected any module apart from the Specifications module, the software adds the fields to the Import Link window that are not included in the special hard-coded list so that all target module table columns are displayed. In the Import Link window, the filed names appear as they are in the database if they are not included in the special list. The fields that are included in the special list display meaningful engineering names.

Browser views

(Only available when using the Single table import method, if you also included reference tables in the link)

The data window displays all the existing browser views.

Style Preview

Displays the field list defined in the selected browser view. This opens the Style Preview dialog where the fields selected the browser view are displayed in red. The View check box is selected next to the field names that will be displayed in the Import Link window.

Clear

Clears the browser view selection. In this case, the Import Utility does not use any browser view style but displays all the reference table columns in the Import Link window.

Select View

Applies the current style settings for the current link.
