Use this procedure to create a database profile in InfoMaker so that you automatically connect to your database when opening InfoMaker. InfoMaker automatically creates database profiles for various types of data. However, you may find that your parameter settings do not point to the Smart Instrumentation data source. In such cases, you need to enter the proper profile settings to connect to the Smart Instrumentation database.

  1. With the main InfoMaker window open, select PPM All Outputs Graphic.

  2. On the Database Profiles dialog, select ODB ODBC.

  3. Select New.

  4. In the Database Profile Setup dialog, on the Connection tab, in the Profile Name box, type the profile name.

  5. From the Data source box, select the Smart Instrumentation database you want to connect to.

  6. In the User ID box, type the target schema logon name.

  7. In the Password box, type the target schema logon password.

If you want to connect to the Domain schema of the demo database, the default value for both the User ID and Password properties is demo.

  8. When finished, select OK to reopen the Database Profiles dialog, where the current Smart Instrumentation database profile is selected by default.

  9. Select the database profile and select Connect to make the connection with the profile.
