This dialog enables you to edit an existing wire profile or manually add a new wire to an existing cable set. Normally, wires are created automatically when you select a cable configuration to create a new cable. However, you can add a new wire manually by right-clicking a cable set in the Domain Explorer.

Wire

Allows you to type the wire tag or edit the displayed name as needed.

Cable

Displays the cable to which this wire belongs.

Cable set

Displays the cable set to which the current wire belongs.

Details

Wire sequence in set

Allows you to type a value that determines the numbering sequence of the current wire in the cable set. The software assigns this value automatically when you add a new wire to a set. If you change the sequence number of a wire, make sure that you also change the sequence number of the other wires in the cable set as appropriate to avoid duplicate values.
If you are working under cable type dependency, and have already created plant cables based on a selected reference cable, this field is not enabled for editing. Further, it is not enabled for editing in a plant wire created under cable type dependency.

Polarity

Allows you to select the polarity or shield.

Type

Allows you to select a required wire type. If the required type is not on this list, select next to the list arrow to open the Wire Types dialog where you can add, modify, or delete the items from the Type list.
If you are working under cable type dependency, and have already created plant cables based on a selected reference cable, this field is not enabled for editing. Further, it is not enabled for editing in a plant wire created under cable type dependency.

Color

Allows you to select a wire color. If the required color is not on this list, select next to the list arrow to open the Wire Colors dialog where you can add, modify, or delete items from the Color list.
If you are working under cable type dependency, and have already created plant cables based on a selected default cable, this field is not enabled for editing. Further, it is not enabled for editing in a plant wire created under cable type dependency.

Note

Allows you to type a brief note if required.

Wire ends

Wire end naming convention

Allows you to select a wire end naming convention from the list maintained by the Domain Administrator in the Administration module.

Override naming convention

Allows you to enable editing of Wire end 1 and Wire end 2 fields. Clear to display the wire end names that the software generates according to the wire end naming convention that you selected.

Wire end 1

Displays the name for wire end #1 that the software generated according to the wire end naming convention that you selected. If you select Override naming convention, you can edit this field.

Wire end 2

Displays the name for wire end #2 that the software generated according to the wire end naming convention that you selected. If you select Override naming convention, you can edit this field.

Revisions

Allows you to manage wire revisions.
