The working area of the Section Editor displays the section that you opened for editing by selecting Open Section icon 16bit (with border) on the Section Editor toolbar. It is only possible to work with one specific section in the working area. If you have a section open in the working area, and then select Open Section icon 16bit (with border) to select a different section, the software opens the selected section and close the currently open one. You can open either a header section or data section. When you open a section, the working area only displays the section borders and grid lines. You can display the data fields or field headers and then edit the section using the Edit Fields and Headers floating toolbar, which opens when you select Page Editor icon 16bit on the toolbar. Data fields can display values retrieved from Smart Instrumentation, text strings that you enter manually, or select lists where you select a specific setting or a unit of measure. You can add, edit, or delete data fields or field headers as you require. Data fields marked in yellow indicate item type or instrument process data case fields for which you generate a specification.

  • You define section positions on a spec page in the Page Editor, where you can add or remove sections.

  • You cannot create a section for a hybrid case. If you need to use hybrid case process data in a specification, see Generate a Hybrid Case Spec.
