In this workflow we follow the process of creating an instrument, publishing, and then updating the same instrument.

MFD-02

  1. An instrument is created in a Smart P&ID drawing.

  2. After publishing the Smart P&ID drawing to Smart Instrumentation a Create task is created in the To Do List for the new instrument.

  3. After running the Create task the instrument is created in the Smart Instrumentation Domain Explorer.

  4. After publishing and creating the instrument to Smart Instrumentation, changes are made to the instrument in Smart P&ID.

  5. The Smart P&ID drawing with the changes to the instrument is then published to Smart Instrumentation and an Update task is created in the To Do List.

  6. Before running the Update task, the instrument is deleted from the Smart P&ID drawing and the drawing is republished to Smart Instrumentation.

  7. In the To Do List, in Smart Instrumentation, a Marked for Deletion task is created.
There are now 2 tasks for the same instrument in the To Do List, Update task and a Marked for Deletion task.

  8. Two options are now available:

    • Run the Update task, a message is displayed explaining that a Marked for Deletion task is available for this instrument and do you want to continue with the update. Selecting Yes updates the instrument in Smart Instrumentation but does not remove the Marked for Deletion task from the To Do List.

    • Change the Marked for Deletion to Delete and then running the Delete task. The instrument is deleted from Smart Instrumentation.

    • After running the Update task the Marked for Deletion task is not removed from the To Do List. You can change the Marked for Deletion task to Delete, at a later stage of your project, and run the task to delete the updated instrument if required.

    • Running the Delete task does not remove the Update task from the To Do List. To remove the Update task you must refresh or regenerate the To Do List.
