This window enables you to carry out the following procedures:

  • Create a new device panel.

  • Add a new tag number to the database.

  • Associate tags with device panels.

  • Delete device panel associations.

To access this window, clicking Panel icon 16bit on the Wiring module toolbar or select Actions > Device Panels.

Data Window

Displays the existing tag numbers and device panels in the current <plant>. A row that contains both a tag number and panel name signifies that the tag number and the device panel are associated. A row which shows only a tag number signifies that this tag number is not associated with any device panel. Note that the tag numbers listed in the Tag Number column have a defined wiring profile in the Instrument Type Profile dialog in the Instrument Index module. Tag numbers that do not have a defined wiring profile are excluded from the list.

PPM All Outputs Graphic ( Connected Device Cable Icon)

Represents a device cable connected to a device panel. The absence of this icon means that there is no connected cable.

Sort by

Sorts the list in the data window by either tag numbers or device panels. Note that this is a temporary operation and may have to be repeated if the list is changed.

Manual configuration

Allows you to manually configure the device panels and/or the device cable on either the Create Device Panel and Cable dialog or the Create Device Cable dialog when adding a new tag number, creating a new device panel with a device cable or creating just a device cable. If you do not select this check box, Smart Instrumentation applies the default configuration for device panels, device cables, and connection type that the software retrieves from the instrument type of that particular tag number.
