This dialog allows you to redefine the link between the source and target fields used for tag number naming conventions.

This dialog opens automatically when you open the Import Link window in the following cases:

  • If you have cleared the Define the naming conventions in the link check box in the Tag/Loop tab of the Link Properties dialog and the link between the source and target fields used for tag number naming conventions has not yet been defined.

  • If you have selected the Redefine naming conventions check box in the Tag/Loop tab of the Link Properties dialog.

Source Table Column List

The data window displays all the available columns in the source table. Highlight a source table name and drag it to the required Source Name in the Name Convention data window. To search for a source name, press the key that corresponds to the first letter of the source name you want to find. Make sure you highlight one of the rows first.

Name Convention

This data window displays the source table names and the target tag naming conventions for each segment. Some tag segments are constant and cannot be changed (for example, <unit> number as the tag prefix). Constant values appear in this data window when you first open the DefineTagNameStructure dialog before you make any changes. If you try to change a constant value, an appropriate message is displayed.

No.

Tag segment sequence number.

Source Name

Type the required source column name or drag a source column name from the Source Table Column List data window and drop it in the Source Name field next to the required tag segment. To set a value as constant, type single quotation marks before and after the value, for example 'constant value32'.

If you have defined a constant value as a prefix, you do not have to link any source data to this segment; the Import Utility creates this segment in the target table automatically.

Start

Type the starting position of the string within the name string.

Len.

This field displays the length of the tag segment as set in the target naming convention. This value cannot be changed.

Tag Segment

This field displays the name of the tag segment as set in the target naming convention. This value cannot be changed.

Separator

This field displays the separator as set in the target naming convention. This value cannot be changed.

Description

This field displays the description of the tag segment as set in the target naming convention. This value cannot be changed.

Enable any source name for prefix

Normally, if you assign the <unit> number as the naming prefix, the software can accept the value of the current <unit> only, and you are not allowed to modify the value in the Source Name column for the prefix. Select this check box to enable you to use any source value for the prefix.

If you are importing data for both loops and tag numbers, you must select or clear this option for both the loop and tag name structures.

View Source

Select to open the Source Data dialog to view the source data.
