You use this dialog to search for specifications associated with existing items in the current <plant> or <unit>. You can use two different ways to find item specifications:
-
You can specify search parameters and find specific items. When specifying search parameters, you can use wildcards.
-
You can leave all the search parameter fields empty and find all the existing items.
When searching for instrument specifications, you can set the software to display tags according to the tag class.
Search parameters
Enable you to enter the required search parameters that narrow down your search. You can narrow your search to the maximum by entering all the search parameters. Leaving some of the Search parameter fields empty widens the search. It is up to you which search parameters to specify. If you do not want to narrow down your search, leave the fields that you do not need blank. You can leave all the fields empty to find all the available items in the current <unit> or <plant>, or specify only some of the search parameters that narrow down your search accordingly.
If needed, use the following wildcards in the text fields: underscore ( _) for single characters, and percent ( % ) for multiple characters.
The search parameters are:
Tag class
Allows you to select a tag class if you want to narrow your search to specs associated with instruments of a particular tag class. The software classifies all the tag numbers according to the following tag classes:
Conventional
A tag number that does not belong to the fieldbus, telecom, electrical, HART, or soft tag class
Foundation Fieldbus
An instrument that is associated with a Foundation Fieldbus segment
HART
A HART instrument
Profibus-DP
An instrument associated with a Profibus DP segment
Profibus-PA
An instrument associated with a Profibus PA segment
Soft Tag
A logical, non-physical, named item, representing the control functions or internal calculations used to monitor or control a process or a signal inside a control system.
Telecom
A telecom instrument
Tag number
Allows you to type the whole tag number you are looking for. Include any prefix, suffix, and separator characters, for example, 101-FT -2225/1. You can also use wildcards. For example, 101-FT%.
Prefix
Allows you to type the tag number prefix to find all the tag numbers that contain this prefix in their names. Do not include the separator characters. The <unit> number segment in the tag number name is usually the tag number prefix. For example, 101 is the prefix of tag number 101-FT - 2225/1. Use wildcards if needed.
Number
Allows you to type the numeric segment of a tag number to find all the tag numbers that contain this numeric segment. For example, 2225 is the numeric segment of tag number 101-FT -2225/1. Use wildcards if needed.
Suffix
Allows you to type the suffix segment of the tag number to find all the tags that contain this suffix. For example, 1 is the suffix segment of tag number 101-FT- 2225/1. Do not type the slash ( /) character before the suffix. Use wildcards if needed.
Process function
Allows you to select a process function to narrow your search to specs associated with tags belonging to the selected process function, for example, Flow.
Instrument type
Allows you to select an instrument type to narrow your search to specs associated with tags belonging to this instrument type, for example, Mass Flow Transmitter (FT).
Telecom device type (available only when selecting Telecom from the Tag class list)
Allows you to select a telecom device type to narrow your search to specs associated with telecom tags belonging to the selected type.
Status
Allows you to select a tag status to narrow your search to specs associated with tags that have the selected status.
I/O type
Allows you to select an I/O type to narrow your search to specs associated with tags for which you have defined this I/O type.
Location
Allows you to select a tag location to narrow your search to specs associated with tags for which you have defined this location, for example, Field.
Equipment
Allows you to select equipment to narrow your search to specs associated with tags for which you have defined this equipment.
Form number
Allows you to select a specification form number to narrow your search to specs for which you have defined this form number.
Case
Allows you to select a case for a multi-case tag number associated with a spec.
Filter
Allows you to narrow down the list of specs by selecting a filter as a search parameter. You can create this kind of filter in the Browser module, per browser view belonging to the Instrument Specifications browser group.
Look in the entire current <plant>
Allows you to look for specs associated with items that meet the defined search criteria in all the units of the current plant.
Date range
Allows you to enter a range of dates. This narrows your search to specs associated with tags that you created from the first date through the second date.
Search results
Displays all the tag numbers that match your search parameters. Select the items and select OK.
Show more search results
Select to hide the search parameter fields, and enlarge the Search results data window to view more item rows.
Select all
Selects all the tag numbers in the Search result data window (available when searching for instrument tags belonging to a multi-tag specification).
OK
After selecting one or more items in the Search results data window, select this button to open the reports of item specifications.
Find
Select to find the items that match the search parameters you entered, and display these items in the Search results data window. The software only displays those items that are associated with specs.
