To generate an EDE View from a Query:
-
Open the Reference Explorer, expand the Query Builder folder.
-
Open the Query Builder folder
-
Right-click the query that you want to generate an EDE view from, and on the shortcut menu click Actions > Generate EDE View.
-
In the View Properties (New) dialog box, type a name for the EDE in the Name field, in our case "Index- Drawing Summary Query View".
-
If required, select the Suppress Repeating Values check box to remove duplicated rows from your query results. (For example, use this option when the query involves wiring and connections).
-
When working with a Microsoft SQL database, selecting Suppress Repeating Values in combination with Note fields, causes the query/EDE to display incorrectly.
-
When any of the following Note attributes belonging to specific Item Types are included in your query, the complete EDE appears blank.

When adding one of these Note attributes, when the software detect that it is not compatible with your query a message is displayed on the screen, but the software does not remove the attribute from the query, this you must do manually.
-
Browser views that were converted to EDEs after upgrading from version 2013 that include any Note field, appear completely blank when opened. To correct these issues, in the Edit EDE Definition dialog box clear the Suppress Repeating Values check box.
-
Select the User Default View to set the default EDE view that is opened by default, using the EDE module, per user.
-
Select the View Type.
-
If working in an integrated environment, select the document type that the EDE view uses for mapping from the Published Document Type list.
-
Select the Report Type.
-
Add a description, if required.
-
Click OK.
The EDE View window opens and a new EDE Actions tab opens next to the EDE and Domain Explorer tabs.
Each opened EDE View has its own EDE Actions tab, and only those Items that are relevant to the opened EDE View are displayed in the Tree View.
