Smart Instrumentation Version
13.1

The Smart Instrumentation Offline Project is very similar to the Workshare functionality found in other Intergraph Smart applications such as Smart P&ID.

It enables Owner Operators, and EPCs, to export and import projects without access to each others database. This export/import is carried out using .ddti files. The Claim and Merge functionality contain options to control what data is claimed or merged. These options are:

All

Claim or Merge All, claims or merges all items from a .ddti file to a database.

Only Process and Spec Data

Apply the claim/merge actions on the Process and Spec data only. Other data will not be affected.

Exclude Process and Spec Data

Apply the claim/merge actions on all data except Process and Spec Data. This is basically wiring but could contain other data such as lines.

Scenario Examples

  • Scenario 1 - Owner Operator sends a project to two sub-contractors.

    Contractor 1 - Process data

    Contractor 2 - Wiring data

Using both these new options the Owner Operator can merge the projects in any order without effecting the other data.

  • Scenario 2 - Owner Operator performs the wiring tasks and sub-contracts the Process tasks. Using the Specs and Process Data only option, the merger is performed without effecting the Owner Operators wiring work.

  • Scenario 3 - Owner Operator performs the Process tasks and sub-contracts the Wiring tasks. Using the Exclude Specs and Process Data option, the merger is performed without effecting the Owner Operators process work.

  • These options are applied on updated items. New items are always merged.

  • Export and import can only be performed on an entire project.

  • Two projects cannot be imported or exported at the same time.

  • Exporting, exports all the claimed items in the project. It ignores items in the Claim buffer.

The .ddti file carries data from the Owner Operator database to the EPC and back again. In addition to the project data, the .ddti file contains all the Reference data that the receiver requires to work on the project. Importing a .ddti file, loads and merges the data to the target project. The .ddti file is loaded to an empty project. When loading to an empty project the PBS is copied from the .ddti file to the target project.

Copying the PBS to an empty project is dependent on the project not being scoped to any of the target PBS's.

  • When a .ddti fie is loaded to the target database the reference data is also loaded.

  • In Smart Instrumentation versions 2018 and 13.1, the ESL layouts are reference data. Therefore changes made to ESL layouts in a project, are imported/merged to your target database changing the reference data. To safeguard against this happening, inform the package/project user to avoid making any changes to the ESL Layouts. This is applicable when working with Offline Projects.

  • If the reference data exists in the target database (has the same ID as the reference data in the .ddti), the reference data is not imported from the .ddti and not modified in the database.

  • New reference data can be updated by creating a new empty project .ddti, the empty .ddti contains only the project reference data.

  • External files, such as Title Blocks, Symbols, and so forth are not included in the .ddti.
