The following topic contains 2 examples of queries created in the Query Builder.
Example 1
This example shows a basic query that displays Instruments and any Document Numbers, Line Numbers, and Loop Names that are related to the Instrument.
By creating a relationship between the Instrument and each of the other items and selecting the Display only X [Item Type] records and Y [Item Type] records that are related, the preview displays all the instruments in the Domain and any lines, loops, and documents related to the instrument.
Example 2
This example shows a query that is used to retrieve data about control valves.
Using a combination of different attributes and relationships the query searches the database and returns only the data associated with control valves.
The graphic above shows some of the attributes used to create the Control Valve query. Notice that text has been added to the Attribute Caption Name field for these attributes, this is so that in the query preview and EDE these captions replace the attribute names.
