You use this tab to associate a functional requirement with a non-wired tag, as well as upstream and downstream lines for an instrument. The first associated line (main) will be defined as upstream and is displayed on the General tab.

Line Associations Considerations

The user should note the following limitations on lines, streams, and ports when coming to associate lines to an instrument:

  • Only a single line can be associated to a port.

  • The number of associated lines is limited to four.

  • The same line can be associated with the same tag per upstream and downstream.

Main Line Association Considerations

The user should carefully consider the following limitations:

  • Changing or removing the line should be done with extreme care. Removing or changing the main upstream line from the General Tab dialog results in disassociation of all lines! The system displays notifying message verifying the user’s intent.

  • The main line cannot be changed to downstream from the Associations Tab dialog. Any attempt to remove the main line is followed by system notification prompting the user to the General Tab to continue the procedure.

  • When, apart from the main line, all lines are associated upstream, a notifying message box appears.

Associated functional requirement

Displays the functional requirement tag associated with the selected tag number. Select Browse to view a list of available functional requirement tags and to select a tag to associate with the selected tag number.

Associated wired tag numbers

Lists the instruments that are associated with the in-line instrument and which have wiring.

Associated lines

Lists the lines associated with the selected tag number. These lines are associated with a port (numbered between 1 and 4) and a stream. Apart from the main line, all other lines can be associated with any stream and port. The Line selected in the General tab is automatically defined as the main upstream line and assigned with the smallest port number (the port number can be changed later in the line association procedure). Select Port to select a port number from the list. Select Add to view a list of available lines to select a line to associate with the selected tag number. Select Remove to delete an associated line from the Associated lines list.

Line association is not available for tag types: Telecom, Electrical and Test equipment.

For users with DDP license - Selecting on Port, a display of DDP-defined ports list appears. Associating lines to more than four ports, the display limited to four ports.
