In Smart Instrumentation, the device field segment of a telecom tag number (for example, HO) is associated with the existing device type acronym and description (for example, HOHOODS, ACOUSTIC).

If when duplicating a telecom tag number, the system cannot recognize this association, you use this dialog to select an existing telecom device type to associate with the telecom tag number. This can happen for example in the Duplicate Tag Number dialog, where you change the telecom device field segment in the telecom tag number to a telecom device field with a value that does not exist in the database.

Also, you use this dialog to select an instrument type for a new telecom tag number for which the device type acronym does not exist in the database or is not unique.  For instance, HO can refer to HOODS, ACOUSTIC, or to HOODS, ACOUSTIC User-Defined.

The dialog options are:

Find telecom device type

Allows you to find a record in the data window. Type the item you want to find and the software highlights the record in the data window below.

Contains all the telecom device types supplied with Smart Instrumentation, and all the user-defined telecom device types. Select a device type whose acronym you want to associate with the new or duplicated telecom tag number.
