Smart Instrumentation Version
13.1

This dialog enables you to check and modify various discrepancies that can occur on a single-section page, and to determine the contents of the TableColumn List pop-up window for the given page.

When you select OK, Smart Instrumentation automatically performs the following tasks:

  • Checks and eliminates duplicate data field names on the current page.

  • Updates the length of a field on the current page according to the length of the corresponding table column in the database.

  • Makes the current Process Data and Calculation columns available in the TableColumn List pop-up window so that you can add them as data fields in the page.

  • You cannot regenerate composite pages. If you want to regenerate sections that a composite page includes, open a specific page section in the Section Editor and then regenerate the section.

  • If you want to add a user- defined specification view to a data page, you must first add it on the Specification Views dialog.

Select tables, views, and columns

Displays the names of the tables and views whose columns you can add in the page.

Table/View Name

Displays the name of the database table or view.

Select

Selects the table or view whose columns you want to add as data fields in the page, and allows you to displays the table columns after selecting Show.

Show Columns

Consists of Show buttons for the following tables: add_spec, spec_sheet_data, udf_component.

Show

Displays columns for the table or view that you selected.

Select columns

Displays the names of columns that belong to a specific table or view that you selected. You can select all or particular columns for adding on the page. To extend the existing selection, hold down the CTRL key while selecting or removing columns from the selection.

Columns that are indicated in bold correspond to data fields that are already used on the page.

Column Name

Displays the name of the table column.

Column Type

Displays the column type and the maximum number of characters that you can use in the data fields.

Select all

Selects all the displayed columns for use as data fields in the specification page.

Select Used Columns

Selects the columns which are already used as data fields in the current specification page.

The total of columns in the page

Displays the sum of all used columns, columns you select, and columns that are available for inclusion in the page after you regenerate the page. The software calculates the number according to the action that you perform:

Selected used columns

The software automatically updates the total number of columns according to your column selection. If the total number of columns exceeds 1000, the text font changes to red, which indicates that you must reduce the number of columns.

Page regeneration without selecting any columns

If you just select OK without selecting any columns and then reopen the dialog, the total number of columns increases significantly. This is because all component and process data tables columns are added to the Table Column List pop up window to be available for the report page.

Column selection and page regeneration

The software automatically updates the total number of columns according to your column selection. As mentioned above, the total number of columns increases even more than before since all component columns and process data tables are added to the columns you selected and display in the Table Column List pop up window to be available for the report page.

Saving the page before or after regeneration

When saving the page, the software automatically removes all columns that are not used in the page, apart from system columns, and computed field conditions.

The maximum allowed total

Displays the maximum number of columns that a spec page can include. You cannot add more than 1000 columns in a page.

When opening a spec page after upgrading Smart Instrumentation to Version 2007, you may discover that the number of used columns exceeds the maximum allowed total columns. Although the software indicates that you have more than the maximum allowed columns, in fact, many of these columns are not used. You need to close the dialog and then save the page. When saving the page, the software automatically removes all of the unused columns.
