You use the Page Editor to create and edit user-defined specification pages. It allows you to open an existing page, modify it as needed, save it under a different name, or save it as an external file. Also, if you defined page sections in the Section Editor, you can create a composite page and assign the appropriate sections to this page.

The activities that you can perform in the Page Editor depend on the style of the page that you open. Smart Instrumentation supports two page styles: single-section page or a composite page. Page style-specific activities are as follows:

In a single-section page, you can perform the following activities:

  • Edit the page field headers

  • Modify position and size of page objects

  • Change the page field format

  • Set the page field order

  • Change the process function of the current page

  • Regenerate an open page or select multiple pages for regeneration without opening any page.

In a composite page, you can perform the following activities:

  • Add sections you defined in Section Editor

  • Remove sections you do not need

  • Arrange sections on the page as you require

The Page Editor contains the following elements:

Working Area

Displays the page that you opened for editing. In a single-section page, the left side displays field headers while the right side displays data fields. If you opened a composite spec page, you can rearrange data sections by selecting and dragging a section to the place that you need. If you use a header section, it is always the left- most section in the generated spec.
