Use this procedure to import Fisher data.

  • Before using this procedure, make sure you meet all the prerequisites. For details, see Prerequisites for Importing Fisher Data.

  • When importing Fisher data, you must always use the Fisher interface to connect to the source data files before you can run the links from the Link Explorer. You cannot create and run links outside of the interface.

  1. Open the Import Utility and logon to the required domain.

  2. From the Interfaces menu, select Fisher.

  3. Beside the Source file box, select Browse and select the .xls or .xlsx Excel file containing the data exported from Fisher.

  4. Select Open to display the file path in the Source file box.

  5. Select Insert new data if you are importing Fisher data into Smart Instrumentation for the very first time.

    OR

Clear Insert new data if you previously imported Fisher data into Smart Instrumentation and you only need to update the existing sizing data in the target database.

  6. Select Run link group automatically and select OK to minimize the Fisher window.

  7. On the Select Link Group dialog, select Fisher and select OK to start the import.

  8. If notified that the link requires system codes, select OK in the message box, and then, do the following:

    1. On the Source System List dialog, which opens automatically, select the Fisher system codes, which the Domain Administrator imported from the In_ctlog.ddti file.

    2. Select OK to continue the import process.

SHARED Tip When running the first import session, the software prompts you to select the source system codes because, for each Fisher import link, on the Source tab of the Link Properties dialog, the Use system codes check box is selected.

  9. Open Smart Instrumentation and examine the imported data in the Process Data, or Instrument Index module.
