Why do I need to attach a document to a preliminary packing list?

Most of the times the buyer needs some documents from a supplier for various reasons. The buyer identifies those documents as vendor data requirements (VDR). Apart from the required documents, as a supplier you can also attach additional documents that you want to share with the buyer.

  1. On the Packing tab, select the agreement number which contains the PPL to which you want to attach a document and click Preliminary Packing Lists.

  2. Click to select the PPL to which you want to attach a document.

  3. Click the Transport Documents tab.

  4. To attach a document for a given Vendor Data Requirement (VDR), do the following:

    • Click Attach File attach document.

    • Click Browse, select a file, and click Open.

    • Click Submit to upload the file.

      • If file does not upload, you can click the file name to open a logfile.

      • Depending on the setup, file upload might work different, without showing Browse and Submit.

  5. If you want to attach any additional document, click Add Additional Document create_ppl under Additional Documents.

  6. Select a VDR and click Add. The selected VDR appears under Additional Documents.

  7. To attach a file, do the following:

    • Click Attach File attach document.

    • Click Browse, select a file, and click Open.

    • Click Submit to upload the file.

      • If file does not upload, you can click the file name to open a logfile.

      • Depending on the setup, file upload might work different, without showing Browse and Submit.

    • To attach a file, you can also just drag it into the Attachments page.

    • You can select an attached document and click Delete delete_preliminary_package to delete the attachment.

    • You can delete a VDR under Additional Documents, but you cannot delete a VDR under Vendor Data Requirements.

    • If the traffic coordinator acknowledges an attached document, you can no longer edit or delete it.
