You can also drag the components to an IWP in the Work Packages browser at the bottom of the Components window.

  1. Open an IWP containing the work steps or components you want to move.

  2. Click Undock Window and drag the IWP window to a desirable location on your desktop.

  3. Create or open a second IWP to serve as the destination of the moved work step or component.

  4. Open the Components window of both IWPs.

  5. On the first IWP, select the work step or component that you want to move.

  6. Drag the selected work step or component from the Components window of the first IWP to the Components window of the second IWP.

  • You can move work steps and components to and from IWPs with the same purpose.

  • When you move components from one IWP to another, the component, drawing, and work steps associated with the component are moved and added to the target IWP. All man hours and details associated with the work steps are also updated. If the details do not display correctly, close the IWP and reopen it.

  • You cannot move components or work steps from one IWP to another if progress is reported. To move the component or work step, clear the progress, then drag the component or work step to the target IWP.

  • To move a group of work steps from one IWP to another, select multiple components and move a work step associated with different components, with the same name (includes case sensitive), to the target IWP. All the work steps that are not in the progressed state are moved with the associated components and drawings.

  • Select two or more components and then select the work step with the same name (includes case sensitive), and click Move Step Down or Move Step Up to reorder the work step in the selected components.
