During the rules of progress generation, work steps are created and their unit rates are assigned based on a lookup in the rules of progress configuration workbook. You can configure Smart Construction to also assign a property value to the component using the same lookup mechanism during the rules of progress generation. Then, you can configure custom column items for the Smart Construction Components window to display these custom interface and property definitions.
Assigning properties to a component in the rules of progress generation is a multi-step process:

Extend the Smart Construction schema to include custom interface definitions and properties not delivered with Smart Construction. SPC_ComponentItem must realize the custom interface definitions, which expose the custom properties.

Configure the custom interface and property definitions in the rules of progress configuration workbook.

Retrieve published models and drawings into Smart Construction.

Create and configure a new column item for the Smart Construction Components window.
