When should I refresh work steps in the Rules of Progress Utility?

You should refresh work steps in the Rules of Progress Utility to refresh data for a specific group of components. For example, you can select to refresh work steps for a group of components based on specific property or based on component category.

When you refresh work steps in the Rules of Progress Utility, the latest rules of progress data is loaded based on the XML file the utility is reading. The following can occur:

  • All work steps already associated with IWPs are refreshed.

  • New work steps are added to the system, but they are not added to any IWPs. They can be planned in IWPs.

  • Any unplanned work steps are also refreshed. They can be planned in IWPs.

  1. Open a component or components in the Components tab of the Rules of Progress Utility. For more information, see Explore components using the Rules of Progress Utility.

  2. Select one or more components.

  3. Right-click the selected components and click Refresh Work Steps.

  • You can group column headers in the Component property values table to better view your rules of progress data. For more information, see Group column headers in the Rules of Progress Utility.

  • Right-click an entry in the group and click Select Group to select all entries within the sorted group.

  • Right-click an entry in the tab and click Select All to select all entries, not just the entries in the sorted group.

When you refresh work steps from the Smart Construction client, those items are given priority in the retrieve queue and are processed before any other items in the retrieve queue.
