Structural Detailing features include the following:

Corner Features

When you place corner features, the software uses the corner feature rules. The two-dimensional symbols for corner features define the shape of the feature. The inputs include two edge ports and a face port. The face port defines the sketching plane for the corner feature. The output for the symbol is a 2D curve adjusted to the parameter data.

A - Logical face, or Port 1.

B - Support1, or Port 2. This is the longest logical edge

C - Corner. The corner is returned at the intersection.

D - Support2, or Port 3. This is the shortest logical edge.

The corner symbol geometry behaves differently depending on the layer on which it is placed. If you place the geometry on the Default layer, the software cuts the symbol normal to the sketching plane. If you place the symbol geometry on the Along Corner layer, the software cuts the symbol parallel to the edge.

The C# rules for corner features are based on questions and object properties.

The corner feature reference data is delivered by default to the FT_SRDCornerFeature.xls file in the [Product Folder]ShipCatalogData\BulkLoad\DataFiles\StructDetail folder. Each worksheet in this file creates a Smart Class. Each row creates a Smart Item.

Edge Features

When you place edge features, the software uses the edge feature rules. Edge feature symbols define the shape of the feature. The inputs include one edge and a point. The output is a 2D curve adjusted to the parameter data. The symbol uses the edge port and point to define the location for the symbol.

The delivered C# rules for edge features pick a set of defaults, but you can customize them to be based on questions and object properties instead.

The edge feature reference data is delivered by default to the FT_SRDEdgeFeature_Style1.xls and FT_SRDEdgeFeature_Style2.xls files in the [Product Folder]\ShipCatalogData\BulkLoad\DataFiles\StructDetail folder. Each worksheet in this file creates a Smart Class. Each row creates a Smart Item.

The LongPointEdge parameter for edge features is included in the FT_AllShipCodeListsStructDetails.xlsx file delivered by default to the [Product Folder}\ShipCatalogData\Bulkload\DataFiles\StructDetail folder.

Smart 3D uses this attribute as an occurrence attributes for CutEdge, OffEdge, and WaterStop smart classes in the FT_SREDEdgeFeature_Style1.xls and FT_SRDEdgeFeature_Style2.xls workbooks.

Sketched Features

These features are useful for minor openings, or openings which are not significant for strength analysis. They are created in the Sketch2D environment, and you sketch them as you would a Molded Forms opening. You can select sketched features from a set of standard features in the catalog. Sketched feature symbols define the shape of the opening. There are no inputs to sketched feature symbols. The output is a 2D curve adjusted to the parameter data.

The Catalog database entries for Corner and Edge features point to both two-dimensional symbol geometry and C# software, because Corner and Edge features are Smart Occurrences. Sketched features are not Smart Occurrences, so the Catalog database only points to 2D symbol geometry for sketched features.
