All behavior is controlled by questions on child objects. In some cases the default answers for questions on child objects are set automatically based on the selected assembly connection item, as noted in the table below.

Generic_MbrAC_01

The connection creates web cuts and flange cuts for each of up to five bounding objects. All behavior is controlled by questions on the child objects.

Use cases vary so widely that no preview is possible.

WP_2B_CF

This option is made available when there are two bounding objects.

The connection creates web cuts and flange cuts for each of the bounding objects. A corner feature is placed where the two bounding objects meet.

All other behavior is controlled by questions on child objects.

WPEF_PF_1

This option is made available when:

  • There are two bounding objects.

  • One boundary is a plate face.

  • One boundary is a member.

  • The bounded member intersects the edge of the bounding member, completely overlaps it, and extends beyond it.

  • The bounding plate is further away than the bounding member.

The connection creates web cuts and flange cuts for each of the bounding objects. A corner feature is placed where the two bounding objects meet.

Questions asked by child objects have their default values set to automatically achieve this configuration:

  • Inside Face Rathole corner feature placed where bounded member meets bounding edge.

  • Step Snipe feature placed where bounding objects meet.

  • Bounded flanges or webs are cut square.

Generic_2B_01

This option is made available when:

  • There are two or more bounding objects.

  • The web intersects the plate edge.

  • A complete flange object intersects the other bounding object.

The connection creates a web cut and a flange cut. The web cut has one bounding edge and the flange cut has the other bounding edge.

Gen_
BearingPlate
AC_01

This option:

  • Creates a bearing plate when a member is bounded to a plate.

For the following bounded member types, the bounded member type categories are:

  • Handrail Element = Post or Handrail Attachment

  • Stair Element = Support or Stair Attachment

  • Ladder Element = Ladder Attachment

Gen_
MultiBounding_
01

This option is made available when a member is bounded to two or more bounding objects, and has two, three, or five surfaces at the intersection.

The connection creates one web cut and one flange cut.

All cross-sections are supported.

Example of two bounding surfaces:
