You can copy and paste class properties within the same class system or to a different class system. Press SHIFT+F4 or click Manage Properties > Copy Properties on the shortcut menu in the CMS Explorer view.

On the CMS Copy Class Properties dialog box, you can drag and drop the selected properties from the source class to a destination class.

The dialog box displays the source class system, the destination class system, and the classes in each system.

Source Class System: The properties can be copied or dragged from this class system.

Destination Class System: The properties can be pasted or dropped in this class system.

You can expand a class to view its child classes. Right-click a class to view its properties.

The tree expands to display all the properties present in that class.

On the status bar, you can see the shortcut keys available:

  • F4: Displays all the properties for a selected class.

  • F1: Shows the details of a selected property.

  • F5: Refreshes the view.

  • DELETE: Deletes properties.

  • F9: Select a class system (source or destination).

  • CTRL+C: Copy

  • CTRL+X: Cut

  • CTRL+V: Paste

When you drag and drop properties from the source class system to the destination class system, the following confirmation message appears:

When you click OK, the properties are copied to the destination class, and the status bar updates with the number of properties copied or the number of properties that failed to be copied. If you click Cancel, the copying operation is canceled.

If a class already contains the selected properties, they cannot be pasted again in the same class.

You can view the details of the properties by right-clicking any of the properties.

The shortcut menu options are different for the source and destination class systems.

Source Class System - Shortcut Menu

The shortcut menu for a property in the source class system is as follows:

Show Details (F1): Click this menu option to view the details of a selected property in a tooltip as shown below. The same details that are present in the assign property grid are shown here.

Cut (CTRL+X): Cuts one or more selected properties from the selected class.

Copy (CTRL+V): Copies one or more selected properties from the selected class.

Delete (DELETE key): Deletes one or more selected properties. The following message appears when you try to delete the selected properties.

Click Yes to delete the properties; click No to cancel the delete operation.

Destination Class System - Shortcut Menu

The shortcut menu for a class in the destination class system is as follows:

Display Properties (F4): Displays all the properties of the class.

Paste (CTRL+V): When you select Cut or Copy on the source class, this menu item is enabled, and you can paste the selected properties onto a class.

The shortcut menu for a property in the destination class system is as follows:

Show Details (F1): Click this menu option to view the details of a selected property in a tooltip. The same details that are present in the assign property grid are shown here.

Delete (DELETE key): Delete a property by clicking Delete on the shortcut menu or by pressing DELETE on the keyboard. The following message appears when you try to delete a selected property.

Click Yes to delete the selected property; click No to cancel the delete operation.

Check Boxes

The CMS Copy Class Properties dialog box provides two check boxes to control moving of properties and auto-saving.

Move: When you use Move to copy and paste one or more properties, the properties are removed from the source class and moved to the destination class.

The following message appears. When you click OK, the properties are moved to the destination class, and the status bar updates with the number of properties moved or the number of properties that failed to be copied.

If you click Cancel, moving the properties is canceled.

Autocommit: When you paste one or more properties, a confirmation message appears. On selecting OK, the properties are pasted. To avoid the confirmation message for each paste operation, select the Autocommit check box. The software automatically saves the pasted properties without displaying the confirmation message.

If you are logged in to a project, you are allowed to copy properties from a class system from a product group, but the properties cannot be pasted into a class system that is from a product group. All the classes displayed in the class system from a product group are shown in a red color, which means that they are not editable.
