In order to bulk edit classes in a class system, you can click Bulk Edit > Classes on the shortcut menu. The following dialog box appears.

The grid contains the following columns.

This hierarchical Selection list LOV displays the class hierarchy of the class system where the classes that have no idents can be selected.

  • Valid Date From: Enter the date from which the class is valid. This is an optional field.

  • Valid Date To: Enter the date to which the class is valid. This field displays the date to which the class is valid.

The ‘From date’ must be less than the ‘To date’.

    • None: Choose this option if editing and SAP transfer can occur anytime.

  • Table Data Display Option: Select a data display option for table data in the Multi Ident View. The default value for this field is the value given at the class system level.

  • S3D Sheet: Select a part class sheet to map to a CMS class. The Selection list LOV is from the SP3D 10.02 screen. Smart 3D sheet mapping to a class is unique in a class system; that is, a Smart 3D part class sheet can be mapped to only one class in a class system.

Grid Toolbar Buttons: In order to operate on the data displayed in the grid, you can click one of the buttons provided on the grid toolbar. The main buttons and their operations are as given below –

  • Edit Grid: On click, this will set the grid for edit operation. If you want to add, modify, or delete data, click this button first.

  • Read-Only Grid: By default, the grid appears in read-only mode. After edit operations are done and you have saved your data, click this button to set the grid again in read-only mode. Please note that when the grid is in edit mode, all other controls will be disabled; those controls are enabled again when you set the grid to read-only mode by clicking this button. Do not close the window when the grid is in edit mode; all the menu options will remain in a locked condition.

  • Add Row: Click this button to add a blank row in the grid to create a new record. When a new row is added, the Attribute Data Display Option and Table Data Display Option columns are automatically filled with their default values.

  • Check Grid: Once you are done with your modifications in the grid, you can click this button to evaluate any possible errors in the data before you go ahead and save.

  • Save Grid: Save the modification done in the grid data.

  • Sort: Click this button to define a sort condition for the grid data.

  • Filter: Click this button to define a filter condition for the data displayed in the grid.

  • Selection list LOV: This button will be available only in edit mode when the cursor is in a column that has a selection list associated to it. Click this button to select a valid value for that field.

Grid Shortcut Menu: The following options are available when you select a row and click the right mouse button.

  • Undo: Rolls back the latest changes in the selected row.

  • Copy: Copies the selected row in the grid.

  • Paste (Insert): Inserts a row beneath the selected row and pastes data into the new row.

  • Add Row: Similar to the add row toolbar button, adds a blank row below the selected row, setting the grid in edit mode if not already in edit mode.

  • Duplicate Row: Creates a new row copying all values from the current row, setting the grid in edit mode if not already in edit mode.

  • Delete: Deletes the row selected in the grid. A class cannot be deleted if it has child classes. You must delete the child classes before deleting a parent class. A class with idents cannot be deleted.

Selection list: The selection list associated with any field will normally have the following fields.

  • Find: Provide a sub string for the value you are looking for, and it will reduce the selection list with the possible matches.

  • Values: Displays possible values applicable for the field. You can select one of them by either double clicking that value, or selecting it and then clicking OK.

  • OK: Selects the highlighted value for the field.

  • Cancel: Closes the selection list without making any selection.

Hierarchical Selection list: This additional selection list is provided for the Parent Class Name column where you can view the hierarchy of all classes in the class system as shown in the figure below. You can view this selection list by pressing SHIFT+F9 in the Parent Class Name field.

You can select any class without idents as the parent class. If a class has idents, the following message appears.
