You can add or update symbol information such as symbol library, symbol library version, symbol code, and part data basis to an ident.

  1. Click SRD > XS10 Component Manager > XS1010 Commodity/Ident Management.

  2. Select the Commodity Group/Part/Commodity Code/Ident from the drop-down list at the top of the tree view.

  3. Double-click a commodity code to open the Existing Idents grid. All the existing idents for selected commodity code are displayed in the grid along with symbol information.

    • If symbol information is not associated to the ident, then that ident automatically inherits the existing symbol details, if any, from its associated commodity code, and is displayed Brown in color.

    • If symbol information is not associated to the ident, and are also not available with its associated commodity code, then that ident automatically inherits the existing symbol details, if any, from its associated commodity part, and is displayed Green in color.

    • If any PDB document associated to a symbol.dll is selected as a default document.

    • You can view the symbol library details that are inherited by the ident only when the grid is read-only.

  4. In the Existing Idents grid, click Edit grid EditGrid.

  5. To add symbol details to an ident, double-click the symbol library name, and then in the Selection list LOV dialog box:

    1. Select symbol library.

    2. Select symbol code.

    3. Select PDB documents.

  6. To add symbol image (PDB document view files) to an ident, double-click the File name.

  7. Select the file name from the LOV dialog box and click OK.

    • If any symbol image is set as the default image for a symbol code, and you associate that symbol code to an ident, then that image is also associated to that ident.

    • If you select an image in the Existing Idents grid, then that image is associated to the ident though a symbol code with default image is already associated.

    • When an ident data is exported to .xls format, the symbol image name (file name) is displayed in the Microsoft Excel sheet. And the associated symbol code and its symbol image are saved in the local path defined on the Destinations tab. For more information about local path, see Destinations in the Smart Reference Data Plus Help.

  8. Click Save grid SaveGrid and then click Read-only grid ReadOnly to set the grid back to read-only mode.

Right-click the ident row header for which you want to add symbol library details from its associated commodity code or part data basis and click CC / Part Symbol Data.
