The reinforcing pad width is measured along the circumferential direction of the vessel. The pad width must be greater than attachment width. The length of the attachment is measured along the long axis of the vessel.
If the box is checked to perform the analysis and the pad properties are entered in, the program will compute the stresses at the edge of the attachment and the edge of the pad. When computing the stresses at the edge of the attachment, program adds the pad thickness to the shell thickness.
