Enter the design length of the jacket used to check the inner shell. The internal pressure in the jacket acts as an external pressure on the inner shell. The inner shell is checked for external pressure using this design length plus the jacket pressure and any shell vacuum pressure specified.
The design length is typically the length of the jacket, but if there is a stiffening ring located in between the jacket and the shell, then this length is smaller. The length is between two support points.
