Attribute sets are named sets of predefined attributes. With the assignment of an attribute set, all related attributes are associated automatically. Attribute sets can be used to create attribute based commodity codes on S.30.01. Further, you can assign attribute sets to requisitions on R.30.01, to inquiries on P.30.21, or to agreements on P.50.07.

You can define attribute sets on the A.50.04 Attribute Sets screen.

Enter the name of the set in the Attribute Set field and the descriptions in the Short Desc and Description fields. Select the Commodity Rule indicator if this attribute set should be attached to a commodity part on S.10.03 and therefore be considered as a commodity rule. In that case, the attribute set defines how the commodity codes built with this set will be structured and what they will look like. You must fill the Seq/Digit From field for all attributes.

In the second (Attribute Set Details) block, assign the attributes to the set by selecting from the LOV in the Attribute Name field. Fill the Seq/Digit From and Digit To fields when the attribute set is used as a commodity rule. In the Default Value field, you can define a default insert character that will be used to fill up the commodity code in case the entered value does not match the predefined range (digit from - digit to) for that attribute. For example, you have defined a range of four digits (digit from=5, digit to=8) for an attribute and ‘-‘ as default value. Assuming you enter ‘CS’ as the attribute value, the commodity code would be built with ‘CS--‘ on digit 5 to 8.

When creating a new attribute set with the Commodity Rule indicator selected, a default layout is automatically created as displayed below. To open that window, click the Next Block button from the Attribute Set Details block.

The default short layout consists of m_commodity_code, m_commodity_groups_short, m_parts_short, and attributename_short (all assigned attributes). The default long layout uses the suffix long instead of short. The layouts will automatically be updated when you change the details in window 1 as long as the Manual indicator is not checked. This indicator will be checked when you manually update the layouts here in window 3.

The CC exists indicator shows whether commodity codes exist that were built with this attribute set. In this case, you cannot delete the attribute set.

The picture below shows an example of an attribute-based commodity code built with the attribute set shown in the pictures above.

The picture below displays an example of an attribute set to be used as an attachment for a requisition, inquiry, or agreement.

With the check boxes on the SMat Usages tab, you can define if the attribute set should be displayed on the requisition (ER), inquiry (Inq), agreement (PO), or in expediting (Exp). With the Upd check boxes, you control if the attribute value can be updated in the corresponding document (requisition, inquiry, agreement, in expediting). For requisition, agreement, and exxpediting, the selected Level defines if the attribute must be assigned on the header level, detail level, or both levels. With the Active indicator, you can control if the attribute should be copied or not.

You can attach an attribute set using the Attachments button, on R.30.01 for requisitions, on P.30.21 for inquiries, or on P.50.07 for agreements. This button opens the D.90.21 Attachments screen. Go to the Attributes tab, select an attribute set from the LOV in the Attribute Set field at the top of the tab, and click the Copy button to assign all active attributes of the set to the selected document.

Attributes assigned to a requisition and its values will be passed on to the inquiry and to the agreement. They will be displayed and can be updated according to the definition of the attribute set as described above.
