Configuring a computer to support file mode share - HxGN SDx - Update 61 - Help - Hexagon

In rare cases, you may need to share data not to SDx, but to an XML file. This functionality can be useful when debugging.

This functionality is not configured to work out-of-the-box, but you can activate it, if you need it, using the following steps on every computer that will be sharing in file mode.

1. Create a local directory to store the CommonSchema.xml file.

2. Copy the CommonSchema.xml file from the SDx server to the new directory on the local machine.

3. Update the following environment variable on the local machine: SPCLCommmonSchemaFilePathFileMode. Provide the full path of the local copy of the CommonSchema.xml file, for example: D:\SIODirectory\CommonSchema.xml.

   If you want to enable file mode share for the current user only, update the environment variable in the User variables list. To allow any user on this computer to share in file mode, add the environment variable to the System variables list.

No mechanism exists to compare this local copy of the CommonSchema.xml file to the copy on the server. If changes are made to the copy on the server, you will need to update this local copy manually.

Getting a copy of the latest CommonSchema.xml file

1. Log on to the SDx Web Client as a system administrator.

2. Click Integration > SIO Schema Document.

3. In the results, click on the Actions menu for the schema file.

4. Choose Save Target As and download the schema file to your local computer.
