During backup of a database using Oracle Data Pump technology, the .dmp and .log files are no longer included in the package as in previous software versions, but are now created and stored on a central Oracle server machine. This means that when these files are created, the software assigns them unique names according to the naming conventions below. These file names appear in the manifest document for the backed-up plant.
Naming convention for plant dump file
The naming convention for the plant dump files is as follows:
<plant name>_<backup date and time>.dmp
for example:
MYPLANT12_092920211535PM.dmp
meaning that this is a dump file for plant MYPlant12 with backup date and time 092920211535PM (MMDDYYYYHHMMSS)
Naming convention for plant log file
The log file naming convention includes a prefix 'EXP-' (for the backup log) or 'IMP-' (for the restore log):
EXP-MYPlant12_092920211535PM.LOG
meaning that this is a Log file for export of plant MYPlant12 with backup date and time 092920211535PM
IMP-MYPlant12_092920211535PM.LOG
meaning that this is a Log file for import of plant MYPlant12 with backup date and time 092920211535PM
Naming convention for project files
In the case of a plant with projects, each project has its own dump and log file and these are named using the project GUID to maintain uniqueness, for example:
MYPLANT12_092920211535PM_D3D6A63401D041CE8B5338FEDAA89A0C.dmp
