Smart Engineering Manager Version
12

The procedures in this topic do not apply if your Oracle database backup was created using software earlier than Smart Engineering Manager 12.

During backup of a database using Oracle Data Pump technology, the .dmp and .log files are no longer included in the package as in previous software versions, but are now created and stored on a central Oracle server machine. This means that when these files are created, the software assigns them unique names. For details of how the files are named, see Naming conventions for files created using Oracle Data Pump.

To restore a plant on another Oracle server

These steps must be performed before running the restore process in Smart Engineering Manager.

  1. Open the manifest document to view the names of the dump and log files that were created for the plants and projects during backup.

  2. Ask a DBA to copy these files manually from the source Oracle server Data Pump folder to the target Oracle server Data Pump folder.

To send a package to Hexagon Customer Support

These steps are required after you back up your database to send to Hexagon Customer Support. Since you do not know the target Oracle server path, you must add the relevant dump and log files to the package manually.

  1. Open the manifest document to view the names of the dump and log files that were created for the plants and projects during backup.

  2. Ask a DBA to copy these files manually to any UNC path.

  3. Add these files from the UNC path into the package (.zip file).

  4. Send the package to Customer Support.
